"La Llorona" (Extreme Demon) by cherryteam | Geometry Dash 2.11

cherryteam has been releasing some banger megacollabs in recent times, and "La Llorona" is the last one in line for now. Special thanks to Vernam for reaching out and providing me with the footage to showcase these projects. I'm sure there will be some on the channel in the future too.

This is probably the least interesting of the cherryteam megacollabs I've showcased recently, but that's not to say it isn't good; they've just set a pretty high bar for themselves. "La Llorona" is a lot more monochrome, and with it being mainly red, that makes for a color scheme we've seen in Extreme Demons a lot. I do like how much gray this mixes in, though, as well as some blue from time to time. This could have been done for even more parts to make it more unique in my opinion. In terms of actual designs, decorations, backgrounds, and other visuals, everything is very high quality. My personal favorite parts are the ones that mix in art and effects, such as bli's at 1:21. The transition into this part is also worth mentioning, being really smooth, and it seems like most of the others are quite good too. I've come to expect cherryteam megacollabs to have transitions sorted out, but it's still always nice to see since many megacollabs have some issues on this end.

One thing I didn't mention is that this is a sequel to the popular "Thanatophobia", and I'd say this is a clear improvement in terms of visuals due to things explained in the previous paragraph. As for the gameplay, this should be slightly harder—lower end Extreme instead of Insane Demon. Still, this difficulty should make it accessible to a good chunk of players. It's always nice to see some great megacollabs not be too high up in the Extreme Demon range, and this also seems quite optimized compared to other recent, big megacollabs. There's also a good LDM. With everything in mind, I think this deserves an Epic Extreme Demon rating (barring any major gameplay issues).
