Cloud Code is really delivering great results. These AIs can now write code for us, so we just talk to them and ask for changes, fixes, or even full projects. You do not need to be a big-time coder anymore.

One thing that helps a lot with Cloud Code is writing clear and specific prompts about what you want changed or built. I usually say something like, go into this file and change this part so it works this way, and just describe the feature or fix you are after. That almost always gives me the right results with little drama.

Chris wrote a good article about this, and he has built twelve different projects using Cloud Code and other AI tools. That is a lot in a short time, and he says he would never have finished that much without using AI, because it saves so much effort. He even listed some of the projects, like tools for sorting photos with local AI or making your own RSS feed for Flickr photos, all written with help from AI. Chris admits there is still lots to learn, but says you do not need to read every blog post before starting, just try it out and learn as you go.

The best way to get good results is to write clear specs about what you want, like small step-by-step guides for the AI, and you can even have the AI make this spec for you. You can also ask the AI to review its own code after it writes something, and it will often catch its own mistakes. Another good idea is to tell the AI to use test-driven development, TDD, so you get tests with your new code.

AI-written code is still sometimes wrong or messy, so you need to review the code it makes and check that the tests cover what the app is supposed to do. In the end, you are responsible for what goes into your project, so it is smart to read the code and make small changes if you need to. If you want new test cases, you can ask the AI to write those, too.

Manual reviews are still needed to make sure everything works right, but Cloud Code and these new AIs can really help you move faster if you use them well.
