Nietzsche on what made Ancient Greece DIFFERENT

Описание к видео Nietzsche on what made Ancient Greece DIFFERENT

We read Friedrich Nietzsche's lesser-known but POWERFUL essay "Homer's Contest", where he tells us why the Ancient Greeks went hard.

-

Nietzsche was one of the first thinkers (other than him: Jacob Burckhardt) to pierce through the thick fog of what the Ancient Greeks had been presented as by prior thinkers/historians for so very long; in this essay, which was meant to be a preface to a future book (a book he, unfortunately, never got to write), he outlines very succinctly why exactly the Hellenes were so immensely different than anything we could even begin to imagine, especially in a Christian/post-Christian world. "If we saw them for who they really are, we would shudder in fear."
