Eye On The Valley –Powerhouse Theater, Michael Hoefflin Foundation – March 22, 2024

Today on Eye On The Valley, your host Matt Watson welcomes SCVi Powerhouse Theater Team to the show. Kevin Becker and Ally Benedetti are facilitators with the theater program. They were joined by SCVi learners Jordan Soto and Bella Abarta who perform in the program. The group discusses the flourishing theater program offered through SCVi and iLead schools, talking about their upcoming performance in the musical ‘Grease.’ Bella and Jordan are proud to participate in the program that offers both on and off-stage roles, giving learners the chance to sing, dance, act as well as build sets and help backstage. Recently, the high school learners had the opportunity to go to New York and participate in two workshops on acting, singing, and dancing as well as take in two Broadway shows. Upcoming events include a talent show this weekend, a performance of Treasure Island with the younger children and the aforementioned ‘Grease.’ The 1950’s themed musical will run May 16-18 and sponsorships are currently being sold with prices starting at $75 going up to $500. In the second half of the show, Matt welcomes Tracy Sullivan and Christian Lazore, Board Members at the Michael Hoefflin Foundation. The foundation was founded in 1996 after the death of Michael. His parents began the foundation as a way to support local families in their journey of helping their children battle cancer. An upcoming walk is set to raise funds and awareness for the foundation. Saturday, April 20 it’s the Walk For Kids With Cancer. The walk is just over one mile and will take place in Central Park. Registration is $30, you can join as a team already in place or simply walk individually. Tracy’s group, City Soulmates For A Cure and Christian’s team, SCV Stairs Project are both open to welcoming new team members.
