It’s been a year and a half since corona struck us, probably a lot of us have experienced anxiety and loneliness during that time. It might have been easier to grab a glass of our favorite liquor to get us through the day than anything else sometimes… That's what I heard between the lines when I first listened to Schubert’s “Ständchen”. Thinking of the times he lived in, death was a common occurrence, an acquaintance and to some maybe even a friend. “Komm beglücke mich!” Was it meant the alcohol, rest, or sleep? A cry out for relief, death? Or like what most of us want, just a little bit of love.
