Day 5 at the EXPLORER OF THE SEAS | SANTORINI GREECE - Capital Fira

Hello and welcome to Santorini.
On my 5th day on the Explorer of the Seas board, I woke up in Santorini. Santorini had been on my bucket list for ages. I was excited to see this small island. I did not see everything I wanted, so I will need to come, but again, definitely by plane.

There is no dock for a Cruise ship at Santorini. Visitors are tendered ashore by small boats and usually get off at the Old Santorini Harbor. There is no proper road for cars to get up to the capital of Santorini Fira.
There are three ways to reach the top of the cliff, which is 260 meters above sea level;

-The cable car option. The cable car service runs daily from 06:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every 20 minutes. A single trip costs €6 for adults and €3 for a child aged 5-10 years. Children under 5 go free. Any luggage is charged €3 per passenger. The queue for cable cars is in season for more than 2 hours.
-donkey ride (€10)
-challenging hike up 580 steps (the same path as the donkeys).

I recommend the donkey ride only if you have ridden horses or other animals. Also, some of the donkey riders were very rude.
I walked both ways. The way up was much easier. On the way down, the donkey riders purposely block the road to persuade visitors to take donkey rides. The rocks on the road are slippery; ensure you have proper footwear.

Fira combines natural beauty, social life, nightlife, and shopping, where you can feel the liveliness of the island and where all the action takes place.
