The Rusyns of Slovakia are a Carpatho-Rusyn ethnic group most closely related to Lemkos, who are generally considered to be the same people; however, the term Lemko is more often used to those inhabiting southern Poland. The Rusyns of Slovakia most often inhabit the eastern portion of the country, and have had a great influence on Slovak folk music. The term Carpatho-Rusyn is a complex one, generally used to identify the East Slavic speaking people of the Carpathian mountains, but these people may identify in various ways.
