Helau! und herzlich Wilkommen zum Video dieser Woche!

One of my favorite things about living in the Mainz/Wiesbaden area of Germany is Fastnacht/Fasching (Carneval or Mardi Gras in other areas of the world). The season officially starts in November, and gets into full swing come the new year, culminating in a long weekend of craziness before Lent kicks off.

This week, i'm sharing my local parade in Mainz-Kastel, and Mainz's Rosenmontagszug/Rose Monday Parade, one of the biggest pre-Lentan celebrations in Germany!
