*Dharma Night: Modern Buddhism and Triratna Buddhist Community* Talk by Viryanaga. Followed by a discussion between Viryanaga and Amaladana.

Currently at Dharma night we are exploring the Three Jewels, representing the ideal of the Buddha, the path of the Dharma and and the community of enlightened practitioners, who work to radiate the light of awakening into the world.

This five week series will look at glimmering facets of the Sangha jewel; the Spiritual Community that inspires and guides us on the path towards enlightenment.

This Wednesday, we will explore the topic of Modern Buddhism and our own Triratna Buddhist Community. Many Asian Buddhist traditions are divided between full-time monks and lay people or householders. In the Triratna Buddhist Community the importance is instead placed upon 'Going for Refuge'; transforming our actions, thoughts and values to those in line with the Dharma. The vision is that it is one's commitment that is primary; rather than their lifestyle. We'll be exploring the advantages of this approach for the modern Buddhist, as well as the other distinctive emphasis of the Triratna tradition, to see how we can go deeper into our experience amongst the diverse range of modern lifestyle choices.

*Dharma Night at the Brixton Buddhist Community*
Dharma Night is a public class for anyone interested in understanding and practicing the simple and profound teachings of Buddhism. With practice, this path is said to lead to a state of mind beyond dissatisfaction and suffering, toward a mind that is light, spacious and filled with joy.
This class is especially suitable for those newer to Buddhism, or those who might be exploring Dharma teachings for the first time.
Each week covers a fundamental Buddhist theme or teaching and is built around a discussion between two experienced teachers. There will also be a short guided meditation, tea break and a chance for questions.

*Join in-person*
Social distancing measures have now been lifted in England, so this event will run at a larger capacity than recent classes.
7.30pm-9pm
at Effra Space, 21 Effra Parade,
