My home, the High Fens.
There are still some authentic wilderness areas left in this region.
Around 10,000 years ago, at the end of the last ice age, these raised bogs formed on the barren, waterlogged ground.

The remaining, ancient wilderness areas of the moor are still virtually untouched, pristine, wild and without any major traces of human settlement.

No wonder, the centuries-old primeval landscape is dominated by endless expanses and barrenness.
Especially in winter, the Venn seems unapproachable and unreal, as if from another time.

For me, this excursion is also symbolic and ritualistic in nature.
Every New Year, I visit this area to remind myself where I come from and where I want to go in the future.

Join me on a short trip through this beautiful landscape.
I want to test new equipment.
A new winter jacket and a new daypack for hunting and hiking.
