Temple Vandalism in Andhra Pradesh: Attack on Abhaya Anjaneya Swamy!

On October 16, a shocking attack occurred at the Abhaya Anjaneya Swamy temple in Mulakacheruvu village, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. Unidentified vandals caused extensive damage to the temple, compromising its foundation, damaging walls, and vandalizing deity idols. The attack also led to the destruction of an asbestos shed at the entrance, leaving the building tilted and structurally compromised.

Local leaders swiftly filed a complaint, prompting a police investigation. Authorities suspect that treasure hunters or rival groups may be behind the attack. Superintendent of Police B Krishna Rao confirmed that a case has been registered under the Indian Treasure Trove Act.

This incident follows another act of vandalism just two days prior at the Muthyalamma temple in Secunderabad, Telangana, where an idol was damaged. Locals protested against the attack, and one suspect, Saleem Salman Thakur, was apprehended after being identified in CCTV footage. Police later discovered connections to local thefts at a hotel where Thakur was staying.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has condemned these acts of vandalism and called for urgent action against those responsible.
