From the arctic desert in Greenland, scientists have retrieved environmental samples of DNA in the permafrost that are two million to three million years old. With this, they have reconstructed an ancient boreal forest, a rich ecosystem that consisted of various trees, giant animals, small animals, and marine species, many of which are familiar to us today. In ThePrint #̦PureScience, Sandhya Ramesh explains the findings.
