In this video I have included video of some back streets in the northwest and western areas of the Island. I also added some footage of the passenger ferry terminal area, a vehicular ferry (barge) and some eastern coastal views.

Macleay Island is one of four inhabited South Moreton Bay Islands, (SMBI) or 'Bay Islands' located at the southern end of Morton Bay near Brisbane in Southeast Queensland. The other three islands are Russell Island, Karragarra Island and Lamb Island. They all come under Brisbane's Redlands Council.

There are high speed passenger ferries as well as vehicular ferries which run frequently to and from the SeaLink passenger and barge terminals respectively at Redland Bay from early morning till late in the evening.

A laidback lifestyle can be enjoyed on the islands away from the rush and noise of mainland living. Island living is a unique and special. It's a great place to go fishing, either from the shore or from a 'tinny'. Macleay Island has two boat ramps, the one near the ferry terminal is useable at all tides. There's a boat club too.

There is basic shopping for grocery, hardware, petrol. There are medical and dental practices, SES, fire, ambulance services, post office, state schools and small specialty shops, a pub, bowling club with Keno and a golf club. Too much more to list here.

The emergency services base has a helipad, so only about a half hour direct to a major Brisbane hospital, 24/7.

There's plenty of scope for enjoyable island life.
