Colle della Lombarda, Road SP255, Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy - by motorcycle

Описание к видео Colle della Lombarda, Road SP255, Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy - by motorcycle

The Colle della Lombarda (French: Col de la Lombarde) is a 2350-metre-high mountain pass over the main Alpine ridge in the southern Maritime Alps. The pass connects the Italian province of Cuneo in the Piedmont region with the French department of Alpes-Maritimes in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region. It connects the main roads SS21 in the Stura di Demonte valley in Italy and M2205 in the Tinée valley in France.

On the Italian side, the pass road begins west of the village of Vinadio. Here the SS255 road turns south. The ascent to the pass is around 21 km long and there are around 1460 meters of altitude to overcome. However, the first 13 km of the route are also the access road to the Sant'Anna di Vinadio Sanctuary, so you should expect a higher volume of traffic here. It should also be noted that the pass, which lies on the north side of some higher mountain ranges, can be subject to winter closures until June. The road is asphalted throughout and easy to drive on. However, the road is quite narrow, so you have to watch out for oncoming traffic, especially on the steep and narrow hairpin bends.
