Is Resource Based Economy a Good Idea? A Words of Tomorrow Essay #3

In response to Frank van den Oever's request, I'm sharing my thoughts about the concept of resource-based economy (RBE). I mention Jacques Fresco, the Venus Project, and the Zeitgeist Movement, but only as an example. I compare the relative upsides and downsides of an enlightened long-termist technocracy versus those of capitalism, democracy, and socialism. Ultimately, I believe that a society based on some combination of elections, free market mechanisms, and scientific utilitarian policy could work better than any single-minded regime. Even so, I do have some fondness toward pure RBE, as a lifelong fan of retro science fiction and futurism.
