As part of my project to remove all my Google Home devices, I 'm starting with my Google Home Max speakers. I really loved the speakers quality wise, but I wanted to take them offline and stream music from a Raspberry Pi device running the Volumio distribution. This allows me to stream music on my local NAS using the stereo port on the Google Speakers. However, as you'll see in the video, Google pretty much disables the speakers once no Internet access is available.
