Use of Botulinum Toxin in Cerebral Palsy | Long Term Problem and Benefit for Children - Trishla

Once upon a time, when we started treatment of children with cerebral palsy, botulinum toxin gave us a new path for treatment of this difficult problem, but as time passed, our therapeutic modality became more advanced; we needed botulinum toxin in only a few children.

Also, as different research on botulinum toxin was going on worldwide, lots of new information came to us, and it has proven our concept that repeated use of botulinum can lead to muscle weakness in the already weakened muscles of cerebral palsy children.

Nowadays, we have started using botulinum toxin very infrequently due to the cost of the affair, fewer requirements, and long-term problems. In this video, we clarified our views on the use of botulinum toxin in cerebral palsy.
