This game is almost universally known as "The Blackout." The 4-0, #8 Alabama Crimson Tide traveled to Athens, GA to face off against the 4-0, #3 Georgia Bulldogs. The previous year, Georgia had surprised their fans by wearing black uniforms against Auburn - a game which the Bulldogs won 45-20. Hoping the black uniforms would continue to bring good fortune, Georgia and its fans arranged a "Blackout" at Sanford Stadium for the 2008 showdown with Alabama.
