UTO tours aka sales pitch tours while in China. Silk/pearl/tea factories. Missing jade/embroidery

We took a UTO tour to China and Thailand. On these tours there are required factory visits/tours. The are informative but in reality they are sales pitches.
If we had to rank them by favorite it would go
Embroidery
Silk
Tea
Jade
Pearl

We ended up purchasing at Jade and Silk factories. The jade tour was the first tour so we didnt know what we were getting into. At the pearl factory one of the people in our group negotiated to about 60% of what the cost was. So apparently you can haggle.
