Japanese Food 101: Ryobatayaki 炉端焼きJapanese Barbeque

Whether its on a trip to Japan as a tourist, or if you are on a longer stay, Japan is famous for it’s delicious food. We’re going to start a series introducing some basic kinds of Japanese food and Japanese cuisine. This will include a brief introduction to the specific cuisine, as well as a trip to a local restaurant.

Today we’re going to take a look at the delicious Japanese cuisine of ROBATAYAKI 炉端焼き, or more simply ROBATA ろばた . These terms literally mean fireside-cooking and are a style of barbequed items.

What’s more fun and delicious than having incredibly fresh seafood, meat and vegetables grilled directly in front of you in a uniquely Japanese environment?
