Solo Building an 1800s Inspired Tiny Cabin

Awhile back I put out an ad for guitar lessons, my first clients about a year later reached out about their idea to build a small cabin on their property for their grand kids to play in as they grew up, and a cool place they could sit and enjoy nature, free from technology.

The goal of this cabin was to have a building that was structurally sound, water resistant, able to breath and beautiful. I wanted it to be simple in craftsmanship but intricate enough to be a challenge. I didn’t want any screws showing, so I pre-drilled and used ring shanks everywhere a nail would be visible.

I worked on it from the end of Oct 2021 to beginning of March 2022 while also spending time working smaller jobs keeping other clients happy.

This job was such a blessing, creatively one of the most fulfilling, and it allowed me the flexibility to stay home and be with my wife in December when our first daughter was born. Huge thanks to the homeowners for the opportunity.

The whole thing was recorded with my iPhone 6 I had setup on my square, usually balancing on a 4x4 somewhere.
