MALLORCA MOUNTAINS 4K - Castell d'Alaro

Last week we visited Castell D'Alaro, an old castle on top of a giant rock just in front of Serra De Tramuntana. We were quite lucky to choose this day, because the peaks of Puig Major and Puig de Massanella were still covered in snow, which was beautiful!

Starting at Es Verger restaurant, you only have to walk 1 hour to reach this 821m high lookout point. Here you can find the ruins of the Alaro Castle and on the highest point there is the Ermita de la Mare de Deu del Refugi. For those who want to wake up with this view, there is a hostel at the top which provides cheap accommodation for the hikers (very close to the GR 221).

Easy walk, but in the summer I wouldn't recommend driving up to the restaurant. The road is in bad shape and narrow. So it's not for people with a fear of heights.
