[FR] Le funiculaire de Braunwaldbahn dessert le village de Braunwald à 1250m d'altitude en dessus de Linthal dans la vallée de la Linth, canton de Glaris en Suisse. Le village n'est pas raccordé au réseau routier et le funiculaire est le seul moyen d'accès. 500'000 voyageurs et 6'000 tonnes de marchandises transitent par cet ligne chaque année. Ouvert en 1907 il remplace un téléphérique datant de 1901 ! D'abord saisonnier, l'exploitation hivernale ne débute que en 1928. Modernisé plusieurs fois, un projet de remplacement par téléphérique haute capacité à été étudié, mais au début 2023 la solution de maintien du funiculaire a été préférée. De ce fait une nouvelle étape de modernisation à été entreprise à la fin de l'été 2023 et durera jusqu’en 2024. Ce film à été réalisé quelques mois avant cette nouvelle étape de travaux.
[EN] The Braunwaldbahn funicular serves the village of Braunwald at an altitude of 1250m above Linthal in the Linth valley, canton of Glarus in Switzerland. The village is not connected to the road network and the funicular is the only means of access. 500,000 passengers and 6,000 tonnes of goods pass through this line each year. Opened in 1907, it replaces a cable car dating from 1901! Initially seasonal, winter operation did not begin until 1928. Modernized several times, a replacement project by high-capacity cable car was studied, but at the beginning of 2023 the solution to maintain the funicular was preferred. As a result, a new stage of modernization was undertaken at the end of summer 2023 and will last until 2024. This film was produced a few months before this new stage of work.
[DE] Die Standseilbahn Braunwaldbahn bedient das Dorf Braunwald auf 1250 m Höhe oberhalb von Linthal im Linthtal im Kanton Glarus in der Schweiz. Das Dorf ist nicht an das Straßennetz angeschlossen und die Standseilbahn ist die einzige Zufahrtsmöglichkeit. Jährlich passieren 500.000 Passagiere und 6.000 Tonnen Güter diese Strecke. Sie wurde 1907 eröffnet und ersetzt eine Seilbahn aus dem Jahr 1901! Der zunächst saisonale Winterbetrieb begann erst 1928. Nach mehreren Modernisierungen wurde ein Ersatzprojekt durch eine Hochleistungsseilbahn geprüft, doch Anfang 2023 wurde die Lösung zur Erhaltung der Standseilbahn bevorzugt. Aus diesem Grund wurde Ende Sommer 2023 eine neue Modernisierungsphase in Angriff genommen, die bis 2024 andauern wird. Dieser Film wurde einige Monate vor dieser neuen Phase produziert.
