Born in Sukumo City, Kochi Prefecture in 1976.
Sopranista (male soprano singer).
Having naturally kept his powerful, dramatic soprano range even after his voice broke, Mr. Okamoto is a "born male soprano"—an extremely rare phenomenon anywhere in the world.
After graduating from the Kunitachi College of Music, he obtained a first-class honors degree at the Conservatoire du 16e Francis Poulenc in France. His voice reverberates warmly like nothing else deep in one’s hearts—a quality that is earned it the name "miracle voice." With his unique character and costumes as well, he is highly recognized in a wide range of other fields besides classical music.
His extensive repertoire encompasses a wide range of genres, including religious music, opera, crossover, Japanese classics, and pop songs. "Boléro," the theme song for Fuji Television's live broadcasts of figure skating, provides an excellent opportunity to hear his true value. He also visits schools all over Japan to give concerts. This is something he has been doing for over 20 years and has considered it as his work throughout his life. He works extremely hard to reach out to children, giving dozens of these concerts a year.
