Located on the northern frontier of Lake Victoria, Mabamba Swamp is a mere 12km west of Entebbe by boat.

This wetland maze is quite one of (if not) Uganda’s most important birding site, and it is the perfect habitat for over 300 bird species.

In 2006, the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands awarded Mabamba Swamp the status of a ‘Wetland of International Importance’

@BirdLife.International recognises Mabamba Swamp as an Important Bird Area (IBA).

Mabamba is effortlessly the best place on the planet to see the Shoebill; even more awesome that this wetland sanctuary is protected by the local guides and fishermen.
