Hereditary cataract in dogs is an inherited eye disorder that causes the natural lens in the eye to become opaque at a very early age, leading to vision loss. This is seen when one or both parents have faulty genes and can produce affected puppies.
Treatment involves surgical removal of the affected lens and replacing it with artificial intraocular lens.

It is of utmost importance that affected dogs should not be bred further as there is a very high chance that the next generation will also have similar or worse affections.

Sultan is one handsome doggo! But besides cataracts he also suffers from hip dysplasia.
After a successful cataract surgery he is back to his playful self and loves to show off his new, crystal clear eyes!
