The Two Michaels Saga: Canada's Narrative Unravels

Описание к видео The Two Michaels Saga: Canada's Narrative Unravels

On March 2, 2024, I participated in a roundtable discussion about the Canadian extradition proceeding of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou and China's subsequent arrest of two Canadians, Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor. China accused the two Michaels of espionage. Canada vehemently denied the charge. Then, in November 2023, the Globe & Mail reported that Spavor blamed the Canadian government and Kovrig for his detention, alleging that he was detained because he unwittingly provided intelligence on North Korea to Kovrig. On March 2, Michael Kovrig attended our panel discussion. Although Kovrig was very active in the chat, he declined my offer to speak during the Q&A.
