🌍 A Marathi Woman Filmmaker at Cannes – An Untold Journey
In 2010, on a shoestring budget, Rima Amarapurkar created Janani – a Marathi short film on female violence. The film, raw and real, made it to IFI Goa and later screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner.
Wearing a black sari, Rima walked the red carpet in Cannes, marking a historic moment as one of the early Marathi short films to enter the global stage. She recalls meeting veterans like Nagesh Kukunoor and Govind Nihalani, who had selected her film.
