OAKLAND - Sunday afternoon Steve Kerr said that he will keep his star point guard out of the team's first round playoff matchup, two days after Curry was diagnosed by doctors with a Grade 2 MCL sprain.

Despite that news, Curry was in high spirits when he met with media for the first time since the injury.

"I joked with you (ESPN's Chris Haynes), but the first thought was, 'Thank God it's not my ankle,'" Curry said. "Other than that it was just kinda trying to take my time and assess what was going on, get to the bench and figure it out.

"It was kind of funny - I can joke about it - the first thing I heard from the crowd was, 'Where are the hi-tops? because they thought it was my ankle. But anyway,'" Curry said, referencing the fact that he debuted the Low Top Curry 5s against the Hawks, the game JaVale McGee fell on his knee.

Curry said it felt good to get back to the bench and figure out his knee was stable. He said he knew from the get-to that the injury wasn't season ending.

"At the end of the day, I'll have an opportunity to get back on the court hopefully before our season's over with and do what I can to help our team win a championship, and that's all I'm really focused on right now.

"It's just going to take a different shape than I expected going into the season."

Certainly doesn't sound like someone down in the dumps about an injury. The Warriors will re-evaluate Curry's knee on April 13, coincidentally (or not) a day before the NBA playoffs start.
