The Denver Broncos Just Got Great News Before Facing the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1. Sean Payton and the team have a lot on the line and much to prove, as the entire NFL doubts our talent. Fortunately, we received positive news on the injury front: aside from Quinn Bailey's early injury during training camp, we are relatively healthy. Brandon Jones is expected to play and Ben Powers is recovered from the injury he sustained during the Indianapolis Colts preseason bout.

We have a big advantage schematically as we are entering year two under the Vance Joseph defense and Sean Payton’s offensive system. Last year’s slow start showed how challenging it can be to implement a new system with limited training camp opportunities. I'm confident that Mike Macdonald will get the Seahawks' defense performing at an elite level, but from a scheduling perspective, we’re fortunate to face them in Week 1. Injuries have sidelined some of their best players, including their top offensive lineman and edge rusher, and a shortened preseason adds to their challenges. It's almost certain that Uchenna Nwosu won’t be playing, which should make it easier for our offensive line to keep Bo Nix protected and open up running lanes for Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin.

On defense, our key to success will be stopping the run. Kenneth Walker is a standout player, and we need to limit his carries, forcing Geno Smith to beat us through the air. Connor Williams, their elite center, is still recovering from last year’s ACL injury and likely won’t play in Week 1. This gives players like Zach Allen and John Franklin-Myers a great opportunity to dominate early and often. I’m confident in Pat Surtain’s ability to lock up DK Metcalf again, and if we can stop the run, we’ll win this game.
