Chiari I Malformation Decompression Surgery

Описание к видео Chiari I Malformation Decompression Surgery

Chiari I malformations are seen when the cerebellum, at the base of the brain, is compressed and gets pushed down into the opening of the skull. This problem may be congenital or acquired. When this issue blocks the flow of spinal fluid from the brain to the spinal cord region, people can get severe headaches and problems with spinal cord damage. This video demonstrates the treatment of a young female patient who had headaches since childhood that were improved after the surgery to increase the space around the base of the skull and to reestablish the normal flow of spinal fluid.
