My name is Heather Hurst. I am a nurse practitioner with Norton Immediate Care Center. I have been a family nurse practitioner since 2013. I love working in urgent care because we are able to bridge the gap between patient care, patients that may not have a primary care provider, or may not be able to get into their primary care provider in an optimal amount of time. That is what we are there for, and I love being able to fulfill that role.

I love working at Norton Immediate Care Center because every day is different, you never know what you are going to walk into. We treat all ages, from newborns to geriatrics, all acute care conditions, emergencies, lacerations, incision and drainage techniques. Every day is different, and that is why I love what I do.

When working at the urgent care, every day could be someone's worst day that comes to see you. It is very important to make sure that these patients feel valued, that you are talking with them, not at them, and also being empathetic with their care and concerns. I pride myself on being able to do that and focus on building those relationships with patients, both in the urgent care setting and in my previous primary care setting.

I am originally from here, born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. I went to school at University of Louisville, graduated with my Bachelor's degree in 2008, and then subsequently graduated from University of Louisville with my Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 2013.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my two kids, my dog. We do like to travel when time allows, and when I do get time to myself, I love reading, especially thriller novels and memoirs.
