This short video shows my first preliminary test of my upgraded but not yet complete dust collection in combination with my magnetic Y carriage dust curtains to help with dust containment. Even though my dust collector tube is just operating wide open without benefit of a collector foot around the router it still captures and removes 75~80% of generated chips and the dust curtains keep another 15~20% contained to the cutting area. There is virtually no dust that escapes at the rear of the table and most of what escaped is at the front of the table when the curtain id off the table.I plan to add side curtains to the Y car on either side of the router which should further improve containment. Eventually I hope to adapt a collector foot that can work over the pressure foot which I need to prevent lifting of the thinner materials I cut without a vacuum table.
