VICTIM: CLEVELAND BEDASSEE, 56 year old farmer of Rock Spring District, Blairs Hill, Hanover

TYPE OF CASE: Murder/robbery

DATE & TIME: 11.30 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014.

PLACE: At home in Rock Spring, Hanover.

REPORT: At about 11 p.m. on the evening of Monday, December 8, 2014,
Mr. Bedassee left his home which he shared with his mother to
pick up his girlfriend, who also lived with them, from work in Negril.
They returned home at about 11.30 p.m. Mr. Bedassee used his
key and opened the front door and was immediately pounced upon by two masked gunmen. Mrs. Bedassee was bound and gagged with tape in her bedroom. The men then proceeded to tie up the hands and gag the mouths of both Mr. Bedassee and his girlfriend and they were placed in different rooms. The men demanded money but when these demands were not met they proceeded to ransack the house. The men found $70,000 in the mother’s dresser drawer and $10,000 and US$70 from the girlfriend’s handbag. The men also found Mr. Bedassee’s licensed firearm which was a 9mm Beretta pistol serial number 019284MC in his bedside drawer. Before the men left the house they stabbed Mr. Bedassee on the left side of his neck and left him lying on his face with both hands bound behind his back and mouth gagged. The two men drove away in Mr. Bedassee’s two cars – grey 328i BMW registration # 0168GH and a blue 2010 Toyota sedan car registration # 7133FT. His mother was able to free herself and assisted the girlfriend to untie herself and they called the police as soon as they found Mr. Bedassee’s lifeless body. Investigations found that the men had broken through a door at the back of the house.
The stolen Toyota was later found burnt in sugar fields.

REWARD: Crime Stop is offering a reward totaling $100,000 for information
leading to the arrest and charge of the persons responsible for this
murder/robbery.

POLICE ACTION: The Police has information as to who could have carried out this terrible
act and are asking for the public’s help in locating the perpetrators
