As an English teacher (and sometimes social studies teacher), I feel obligated to post this game. First, it should be noted that this isn't a "real" Nintendo game. Notably, the gameplay is my own. Note how poorly I play and that I die multiple times on the last level.

Anyway, years ago when this game was first brought to my attention and I was teaching The Great Gatsby, I integrated it into the curriculum. Specifically I made it available for "extra credit" and as an alternative/choice assignment. For extra credit, students had to provide proof that they beat the game. (I was rather generous with what type of proof was needed.) The alternative, graded assignment that was available required students to analyze the game in relationship to the text. If I still taught Gatsby, I'd make that extra credit assignment and the alternative assignment available again. Ah well!
