“Nancy Thomas” is a song about what happens when authority replaces compassion.

This song was written about the real-life impact of abusive “behavior modification” practices that were disguised as treatment. For years, families were told these methods were helping children and families — when in reality, they were causing lasting psychological harm.

Holding/Binding therapy has been found to be a form of abuse and is not accepted as a treatment for maladaptive behaviors in children. My brother and we have seen firsthand how placing trust in uncredentialed 'professionals' can result in lasting emotional damage spanning generations.
