A detective with the Placer County Sheriff's Office found a hidden camera, leading the agency to believe that discovering the device may have prevented a home burglary. "This discovery is significant because it marks the first known case of this type of surveillance equipment being located in Placer County," the sheriff's office said in a Tuesday news release. The detective was following up on a separate investigation on Dec. 19 at a home in North Auburn when they spotted the camera, which was disguised with fake leaves to blend into nearby bushes, the sheriff's office said. Attached to the camera was an external battery pack as well.
