World Racing 2 by Synetic/TDK/Playlogic/Atari, 2005.

Synetic's sequel to Mercedes-Benz World Racing introduced a wide-range of lesser seen brands and vehicles. Amongst them was the Skoda Fabia WRC (seen mostly here), the Volkswagen Toureg (from Dakar, etc) and a number of classic Mercedes cars branded as "Rally" variants. I've used a number of each here. I've also used a DTM car in place of a Group B rally car, as the game has none of them! :-D

The scenery is slightly less varied than the original game though, with no snow track or much in the way of night time. However the game can be extended greatly with mods, to port into it all manner of content.

The ambient sounds here are a bit loud (although you can dial them back, as I have done with the music here). The weird noise on the Toureg footage is apparently what camels sound like!

The game is simcade really, the cars can be made to slide about, but it's not really hardcore simulation. And there are (like the first game) loads of things whizzing about all over the place, like planes, helicopters, etc.

Overall a fun experience!
