Mostly, the Washington Coast is full of surprises. Like the Furford Manufacturing Company's Cranberry Museum in Grayland. Here, you'll uncover the history of machines used to harvest cranberries, and learn something new. Bet you didn't know most cranberry bogs aren't bogs at all, but dry fields where ingeniously reliable machines are used to harvest them.

Down the road, you'll find the historic Tokeland Hotel, and the nearby studio of artist Jeffro Uitto, a driftwood visionary.

At the aptly named Washaway Beach, you may run into another local artist, Senja Antilla, at the end of an ever-shortening road that's being swallowed by the sea. Antilla is documenting the homes claimed by America's fastest eroding shoreline. She collects the fragments of washed-away homes to create colorful tributes to relentless loss and the power of the sea.

Hers is just one story among the thousands you'll find along the unforgettable Washington Coast.
