Between the 30th May and the 3rd of June members of both North and South Bristol Amateur radio clubs joined forces under the planning and guidance of Mat (G7FBD) and Dave (G7BYN) to commemorate the loss of Flight 777 on the 1st of June 1943 with the loss of all 17 on board. We were thankful to Ofcom for granting us permission to use the callsign GB80AGBB (AGBB was the tail registration of the aircraft).

On the 1st of June 2023 eighty years after IBIS (the name of the aeroplane) was shot down by enemy aircraft we were joined by a film crew from BBC Bristol who recorded our commemoration event and was transmitted on BBC Points west that evening.

We acknowledge the copyright and wish to declare fair usage to join forces between the BBC, North and South Bristol radio clubs to publicise the lives lost onboard flight 777.
