Amazon BKK fishing Thailand Bangkok. Arapaima, Pacu, Alligator Gar Predator fishing with dead bait.

Welcome to fishing in Bangkok. In this video we visited Amazon BKK fishing park. Up until recently this park was a lure only fishing park but now that the park is under new management you can bait fish here. As you will see in the video the fish are not at all used to bait fishing and are extremely easy to hook at this time. The package we had was for 2 rods, but we could only fish with one rod for most of the day as the bites where coming so thick and fast it was ridiculous and managing 2 rods was a nightmare.

The lake is one big lake in the shape of an 8 with a bridge over the center. Being way out of Bangkok it is a beautiful spot. It took about 1:30 from the airport to get to the lake so not to far.

The lake was going to supply tilapia fish as bait, but we also took a run to the local shop to get chicken, and this was a good option as the fish where really enjoying the chicken. The main fish we caught during the day were alligator gar. They can be a pain to hook as they like to pick up the bait and hold it in the front of there mouth. When you strike you will often pull the hook clear, or you will feel the weight of the fish but loose it soon after as their mouth is full of bone and getting the hook to set well is difficult. I must have struck 15 times for every fish landed.

During the day one of the arapaima was deep hooked. The rig was set up the same way as I would at Jurassic. Main line to 2 silicone stoppers, bead, inline 4oz lead, bead, swivel hook length of 6-7 inch. This rig is one of the safest as it keeps the hook length short and the heavy lead in tight to the hook. If there was a break on the line the fish would be able to shake the lead loose preventing the fish from swallowing the lead or getting snagged up. I was asked to change the rig and as its not my lake / fish that is not a problem, I will do as advised. The new rig was mainline to swivel, bead, 4oz weight, bead and a stopper all on the hook link. I personally do not view this as very safe as if there was a break on the main line the fish has no way of shaking the lead and could end up swallowing a big lead as well as getting snagged on something in the lake.
