Pokémon Yellow! It was the release of Gen 1 that was inspired by the anime, which included features like Jessie and James making an appearance. As well as providing basic examples of series staples such as Pikachu using it’s cry from the anime, friendship, and even Pokémon following you. With Pikachu being the starter, and despite it’s capture being shown in-game, you can hunt for a shiny starter Pikachu! Luckily this one showed up after 2259 soft resets.

ALSO: Can we agree that Pokémon Yellow’s intro, while not as iconic as Red and Blue’s, is amazing?
In my opinion Yellow’s is better than Red and Blue’s
