Introducing Sensu – a deck of luxury art poker playing cards that are environmentally sustainable and support animal welfare.  
 
In 2019 Jack Brutus Penny created and published an award-winning limited-edition art deck called Culturae Animalis in a project that helped endangered mountain gorillas, planted trees and more. On the 1 May, Jack launched on Kickstarter his second deck, Sensu.

Sensu (扇子), or the Japanese folding fan, will be printed with metallic soy ink and foiled recyclable tuck box, and inserted with a special-made Japanese paper byoubu folding screen. Inspired by ukiyoe woodblock prints, Japanese hanafuda and more, the innovative design creates canvas from the playing card border, taking one card as a closed 扇子, but when held together in an open fan, revealing an explosion of colourful images - a narratively driven nonsensical display of anthropomorphic animals, beasts from Japanese folklore, through the seasons and across the landscape. 
 
Among other activities, a portion of all proceeds will be used to rescue abandoned and displaced cats and dogs around Japan. So why not support and receive a piece of limited-edition art, and help art help the earth.
