AAU's Meet the Ambassador series regularly invites ambassadors from embassies around Prague to come and share their observations and expertise with the university community, bringing aspiring diplomats into contact with real world, hard-won experience.

As a direct outgrowth of these events, international relations & diplomacy student Giacomo Piffanelli recently got the opportunity to sit down with Søren Kelstrup, the Ambassador of Denmark to the Czech Republic, to discuss how aspiring diplomats might best prepare for their future, Denmark’s diplomatic traditions, and its role in contemporary global affairs.

Kelstrup has been working in the Danish Foreign Service since 1992, serving as ambassador to the Czech Republic since 2021. In the course of his career, he has been at the forefront of Denmark’s foreign policy initiatives and instrumental in navigating its complex international relationships. The interview and the talk that preceded it offered a deeper understanding of his country’s history and strategic priorities, its contributions to international cooperation, and its stance on pressing global issues.
