लेह में हुई हिंसा पर, जेकेएनसी प्रमुख फारूक अब्दुल्ला कहते हैं, "हिंसा का कारण यह था कि वह (सोनम वांगचुक) 14 दिनों से भूख हड़ताल पर थे... पाँच साल से, वह वहाँ चुपचाप विरोध कर रहे हैं कि उन्हें छठी अनुसूची में सूचीबद्ध किया जाए और राज्य का दर्जा भी दिया जाए। यहाँ तक कि उन्होंने अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज कराने के लिए लेह से दिल्ली तक नंगे पैर पैदल यात्रा भी की... युवाओं ने शायद सोचा होगा कि पाँच साल पहले किए गए सारे वादे खोखले थे।






On the violence in Leh, JKNC chief Farooq Abdullah says, "The reason for the violence was that he (Sonam Wangchuk) had been on a hunger strike for 14 days... For five years, he has been silently protesting there for their inclusion in the Sixth Schedule and for statehood. He even walked barefoot from Leh to Delhi to make his presence felt... The youth may have thought that all the promises made five years ago were hollow.
