Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Review | Surprising Budget Blower

Review of Xiaomi's Redmi Note 7, a sub-£200 budget smartphone boasting an impressive dual-lens camera, crisp 6.3-inch display and strong battery life. From the more-than-respectable specs to the attractive design, there's lots to love here.

Redmi mobiles are a sub-brand of Xiaomi that offers solid value for money, and the Note 7 is one of the most premium of the 2019 range. Despite sporting the kind of specs and features you'd expect from a mid-range smartphone, this mighty handset costs just £179 in the UK.

That dual-lens camera consists of a 48MP primary lens backed by a 5MP depth sensor, and the photo results are pretty good for an affordable device. You get a dedicated night mode and everyday shots look good, although things get a bit grainy when you're indoors.

The Full HD+ display serves up crisp visuals and the performance is smooth for a budget blower, while the battery life is one of the best you'll experience on a cheap smartphone. However, the MiUI interface leaves a lot to be desired still - here's hoping it improves in 2020.
