Welcome to our latest Marsz Flight project!

In the ever-evolving Hip Hop landscape, “The New Chicago” signifies a transformative era for the city’s cultural identity. Chicago artists are not only pushing musical boundaries but also addressing social issues and celebrating local culture through music, visual arts, theater, and more. This movement goes beyond beats and rhymes—it’s about fostering a more inclusive and representative community.

We sat down with some of Chicago’s most influential voices: Joel Q, known for his soulful storytelling; Vic Spencer, a staple in the underground scene with his raw lyricism; Freddie Old Soul, a healer and poet who embodies the Black experience; IAMGAWD, whose gritty style echoes the golden era of Hip Hop; Philmore Greene, a master of vivid narratives; and GQ Tha Teacha, a historian and connector who bridges generations.

These artists are redefining what it means to be a part of Chicago’s Hip Hop culture, and they had a lot to say. Join us as we explore how Chicago never forgot how to rap.
