The simulation presents the Tiger II's 88mm Pzgr.39/43 projectile impacting the upper glacis armour of the T26E4 Super Pershing from ~750m. This is an update of the same simulation from ~3yrs ago, now more refined and with significantly improved material models.

The upper glacis of the Super Pershing featured two 1.5" (38.1mm) spaced "boiler plates" ontop of the main 4" (101.6mm) Cast Homogenous Armour (CHA). The boiler plates have been modelled as structural steel with a yield strength of ~250MPa, with the CHA being ~230BHN hardness. Based on images of the Super Pershing, the outer plate has been modelled at 60°, middle at 52°, and main armour at 43° (however some pictures show that the vehicle doesnt lean forward very much due to the extra weight, so the upper glacis may actually lie closer to the original 46°).

The line of sight thickness is ~277mm. Based on US testing of the 88 against their own CHA, 6" (152.4mm) was required to protect against the projectile at 45°, at 150 yards (LoS=215mm). The mass effectiveness of the armour would likely have improved if armoured steel was used instead of stuctural steel.

The 88mm projectile has been modelled with progressive hardening, ranging from ~650BHN at the nose, to ~400BHN at the base.
