I got a real soft spot for Vietnamese subs, or Banh Mi. And I especially have a soft spot for this place, Nguyen Huong. My first encounter with them was as a kid growing up in downtown Chinatown, always standing in front of their store next to the basement grocery store a few doors up from King's Noodles. My family became regulars of this spot for years, even as we all moved away to all corners of Toronto and the GTA. But to my surprise as a new Scarborough resident, theres on here too. To my own ignorance, I didn't know this was a small local franchise with enough success to supply major Chinese grocers with their main stay subs to sell. This one sits at the Scarborough and Markham boarder next to large grocery store (how odd is that?) currently Field Fresh Market, formerly T&T Miliken. But these guys do more then just those great and cheap Vietnamese subs, and I'll introduce a few of those items here.
