Omar Bugiel's 11th goal of the season proved to be the difference as Wimbledon returned to winning ways today.

Bugiel's value to the Dons was highlighted once again with a soaring 70th minute header that secured a 1-0 win against lowly Salford City. With Crawley winning emphatically at automatic promotion contenders Mansfield, it kept our season alive as we're just outside the play-off zone in eighth place. Though the men from Sussex are in control of their destiny with a three point lead and two games in hand, it's vitally important that Johnnie Jackson's men keep going in case of any slip-ups from them or other teams.

Salford ended the match with nine men with Elliot Watt and Theo Vassell both shown second yellow cards for dissent deep into injury-time after Jake Reeves had cleared a free-kick taken short on the edge of our area. That mattered little as Wimbledon had done enough to secure all three points when the numbers were level.

The Dons stepped up the gas after a first-half that was far from thrilling - the second-half was much more like it after the introduction of John-Kymani Gordon and the home faithful cranked up the decibel levels in response to higher tempo football than what came before.
